This is the planet that I have been working on for the past year or so. It serves two main functions. #1: to satisfy my hunger for concept art, odd yet scientifically in-depth animals, and #2: to design an experimental world in which regular, albeit alien animals coexist with very real supernatural forces.

If you look at the scale, you'll see that Gossipiboma is about the same size as Earth, which makes the three main continents HUGE. The Filpitch Basin alone is a rainforest the size of North America. Because of the large area of habitat, the flora and fauna on the planet have a staggering array of diversity.

Although Gossipiboma's climate belts and general flora and fauna are very similar to those on Earth, there are some key differences:
1. The atmosphere contains many chemicals that would be harmful to Terran organisms, but the Gossipiboman cells can use these chemicals and gases to make ATP.
2. The plants do not photosynthesize, and so can be any color, which is cool. Instead, they perform chemosynthesis with the atmospheric chemicals, much like vent bacteria here on earth. Their reproductive strategies (spores) also add to the soup that is the air on the planet.
3. The gases in the atmosphere increase its density, allowing for some flying creatures that would not be present on Earth, although there are no real "Barlowian Floaters", just larger calcaripods.
This map was created entirely by hand, with some help from an atlas for lines of latitude and longitude.

If you have questions about places or their inhabitants, feel free to ask.

Ah, this is neat! I can't work out world maps well at all, so for my project I used a pre-existing world. (Europa)
I see ice caps, is this world coming out of an ice age (like ours) or entering one?

I haven't really worked out the details with paleoclimatology, but I have created some fossil forms, and judging by their morphology and visible adaptations, I'd say that Gossipiboma is entering an ice age. The process has been happening slowly for a while, and some of the unguloherps and other animals have already been evolving heavy coats of bristly scales for trapping heat.

Where is the Filpitch Basin? I can't find it.

The Filpitch Basin is the large area of rainforest in northern Quellaka, in the eastern hemisphere, the one that looks like S. America. Ya can't miss it.

Now I see it.

Thanks! This might take a while, though...
